Dear 'Guaranteed Formula',
Yes, I would like to attract women like crazy, as claimed by your recent and informative email to me.
...oops - wrong email.
Thank goodness I don't have a webcam. No really.
If I did, then you would've been able to tune in last week to see/hear me going "YYEEEEAAARRRRRR" into my mic (replete with suitable pained expression akin to receiving an enema) in a final attempt to re-create the most infamous Star Wars sound effect of all time. Damn you Ben Burtt. :)
The speederbike, I can do.
The blasters, I can do.
The Tie's.. #$%!^&!!
You'd think it would all kind of come together given the right ingredients, wouldn't you?
Elephants bellows - check
Jet flyby - check
Indycar on wet racetrack - check
But, in much the same way as simply throwing some eggs, flour, sugar, cocoa and milk in a bowl and sticking it in the oven - a chocolate cake doth not this make. And adding more flour to compensate for the gooey mess presented when opening the oven door, just makes things decidedly worse. hmmmpf
After Take#47, the guys on the dev team were exceptionally encouraging:
"You're ALMOST there SaMbO!" yelled GhostEnigma.
"Sure, it sounds like a locomotive, but it's getting better!" said eXoR.
(You gotta luv these guys - even in the face of obvious and laudable disappointment, they're positive to the very end.)
But sadly, the Empire had gotten the better of me. And what you hear above, when roaming the Endor planet surface, is the sad (and gooey) result.
However! The best thing to do in these situations is to jump right back on one's speederbike and face one's demons:
This week I am concentrating on those damn Ties, and am also working on replacing the last-minute effort that was to become the intro music. (Take four rushed hours and end up with Zelda SNES.. :-\ ) *ahem*
Please keep your digits crossed...
On a more serious note, I wanted to thank you all, our fanbase (hey! VE! You're right!) for every last comment regarding the soundscape and music of Troopers. Positive / negative / indifferent.. it's all appreciated and welcome feedback. At the end of the day, this is all for you. Keep telling us, and we'll keep pumping it out.
In the mean time, I hear elephants and smell something burning...
Can we hear some music/sounds before you release it, so we can say if it is good or if it is not reeally good and need some improvements?
THanks
Dragunov
Do it again for us ;)
