Troopers Release Around the Corner - ViperEye - 30th Oct 2003
The Troopers release day is finally coming up, and it's been one heck of a ride to get to it. Feared by some, awaited by most, it is one of the many destinations the team has been seeking out in our multi-year journey of mod development. Thus far, the public has had access to only a single release -- our initial Demo, with all its bugs and pitfalls. Well, folks, it's time to change that.
The past week has been one of the most productive weeks in the history of Troopers, superseded only by the week before our initial release (we seem to work best under pressure; how cliche). A ton of new content has been created, including two brand-new female announcer packs (with real female voices!). The coming release will also mark the return of our long-gone team member, DarkSniper. DarkSniper's return means the return of his awesome Star Destroyer map as well, the one you know from the old screenshots, but have never been able to play -- until now, that is.
All of our new content means that the file size for the Troopers archive has increased significantly from the first version of the game; we're currently looking at a download of over 140 MB’s. Once we noticed this, we figured that it wouldn’t be very fair to offer such a large Open Beta package for download, only to release the real deal so shortly thereafter, so we're going to save you the trouble of downloading something twice and just releasing the final version.
Tommorrow.
It sounds so soon! And it is. Friday, October 31st, at 17:00 EST, 14:00 PST, 23:00 CET. To celebrate, we'll be having a release party in the Troopers IRC channel, during which time a bunch of the Troopers Team will be on hand to answer questions about the mod and help folks who are in need of troubleshooting. And of course, Jolt will be kindly hosting several servers at the time of release, so you'll be able to hop right into the game the moment you finish downloading!
To hold you off until tommorrow, the brand-new Troopers Manual has been uploaded for your viewing pleasure; check it out via the link over on the left. It has info on everything new that falls under the curtain of gameplay, so if you're at all uncertain as to whether or not to download, check it out -- it's sure to help you make up your mind!
The Troopers Development Team has worked long and hard to get to this stage, and we've enjoyed avery bit of the mod's creation. We hope you'll enjoy what's soon to come. See you at the release party!
Ok, trying now for the second day from Australia. Server that this mod is on sucks. Unable to get anything from it on my cable. Any other servers I can download this from?
I have managed to download other mods ok in sizeable amounts however this has proven so far impossible.
You guys think of providing this mod for everyone or just the US?!!!
Cheers
